REVIEW: Spontaneous combustion – chosen by Jeff (well it was – although sadly I chose it first – Ant.)

Tagline: The cleanest kill on earth
Suggested replacement tagline: The shittest film on earth
Theme: Suicide.

Plot overview:

Nevada 1995: Under the fear of nuclear attack, the US government undertakes secret experiments on a young couple, Brian and Peggy. Soon after miraculously surviving a test explosion, Peggy gives birth to a boy with a small, perfectly circular, red birthmark on his hand. Only moments after the birth, Brian and Peggy are consumed in flames as the true effects of the experiment are realised...The doctor's explanation - spontaneous combustion!

Thirty years on and his birthmark is now more pronounced, Sam Kramer is a university student who soon discovers he has the ability to set fire to anyone or anything...

Ant’s balanced view:

Watching Spon Com (as we call it) was perhaps worse than being tortured in a POW camp run by marshal arts serial killer rapists that look like Ian Mcshane after a Scarface style dose of cocaine. A film with ABSOLUTELY NO redeeming features. Too harrowing to recall the plot ‘Dourifs’ performance will not only bring you to tears but also to the medicine cupboard where you will consume every drug available in a desperate bid to kill yourself. Do not watch this film it may bring huge spates of depression that Prozac cannot cure.
