REVIEW: Shadow Fury – Chosen by Hamish

Tagline: The Ultimate Killing Machine, Cloned For Battle
Suggested Replacement Tagline: The Ultimate Washing Machine, Made for Cleaning
Theme: Proper Clones, Drugged up Japs

Plot overview:

In the future, cloning has become a routine occurrence. Dr. Oh (Pat Morita), a scientist at the Nova Corporation, has learned to control the minds of clones, but is promptly let go from his position. In order to get revenge on his former employers, Oh creates Takeru, the ultimate human killing machine. When the Nova Corporation learns of this, hire Madsen (Sam Bottoms), a ruthless bounty hunter to take care of Oh and Takeru.

Review:

Pat Morita finally threw off his acting restraints to show his true ability as Dr Oh in this superb mix of marshal arts and clones. Morita really lets loose as the insane creator of Takeru, the perfect killing machine, his performance resembles an explosion in a crack cocaine processing plant.
Sam Bottoms also stars, redeeming himself after appearing alongside Frank Zag in Project Shadow Chaser III – Do Arians dream of electric sheep (That might not actually be the subtitle but what the hell, it’s a good one).
Shadow Fury is a lot better than it has any right to be but still gets quite boring in the second half. Worth watching for the ludicrous premise alone though.
