REVIEW: Driven Alternative title: Drivel Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Gina Gershon,
Kip Pardue, Burt Reynold. Overview: Starring and written by Sylvester Stallone. He plays a talented veteran driver who confronts the lost potential of his past when called out of retirement to mentor a talented but unfocused rookie contender (Kip Pardue), whose destructive behavior pursuing the girlfriend (Estella Warren) of his primary racing rival (Til Schweiger). Stallone's 'Cliffhanger' collaborator Renny Harlin directs. Review: Driven is less fun than watching an eighty year old play on a broken Scalectrics set. It also provides a less realistic depiction of a Formula 1 season. For example you can’t take your Scalectrics F1 car cross country or down a busy street like they do in Driven. In actual fact at least with Scalectrics you don’t get fobbed off with Indy cars instead of real F1 cars. And finally, mercifully you don’t get dodgy sub-plots or CGI with Scalectrics, just pure racing fun. Overall percentage: 43%
