Plot overview:
Van Damme is officer Louis Burke, a roguish police detective
who goes undercover to investigate a series of inmate murders at Harrison
Penitentiary. Posing as a prisoner, Burke encounters brutal inmates,
corrupt guards, death and betrayal at every turn. But when he unearths
the shocking secret behind the penitentiary's inner workings, Burke
must attempt a daring escape that pits him against not only hundreds
of murderous inmates but also a deadly enemy from his own past...
Review:
The first film to be filmed in twenty mullets a minute (20mpm) , Death
Warrant finally teamed up Jean Claude Van Damme – the Sprout from
Brussels, and perennial marshal arts favourite Patrick Kilpatrick –
Pat Kilpat.
Van Damme is Louise Burke a police detective sent undercover to Harrison
Penitentiary, a high security institute for serial mullet offenders.
Managing to resist the lure of getting “friendly” with other
inmates in the showers, Burke begins to investigate a series of assisted
suicides (or murders as they’re actually called).
The key to this film is whether or not you appreciate mullets or not.
If you think it is the king of hairstyles then this film will really
float your boat otherwise the only thing to possibly stimulate you will
be some very poor shemale inmates.
The cast isn’t the best we’ve seen but is still quite admirable
due to the surprise inclusion of ‘Angel’ (complete with
deluxe mullet) from The Class of 1999. ‘It’ plays a nerdy
computer hacker which leads to scenes both embarrassing and implausible.
Implausibility, in actual fact is a common thread running at the centre
of this film. The writers seem to have totally detached themselves from
reality to write a story revolving around a syndicate selling organs
from murdered convicts. Yes that is the story, I’m not lying.
