An introducion to the world of shit films
What are shit films?
Ever walked into a petrol station, convenience store or even
a video shop to be confronted by a rack of low priced films with
silly titles and actors you have never heard of? I am sure you have
and until a few years ago I am sure you thought the same thing as
me when you saw them – ‘who buys that rubbish?’
– ‘why would anyone put themselves through (normally)
90 minutes of dire badly acted, badly made film trash?’ Well
the answer is simple, they can be funny – infact VERY funny.
Entertainment can seldom be found cheaply these days but if you
look at a shit film in the correct light it can be a truly marvellous
way to entertain yourself or even better a few friends.
This website is not trying to put a stop to the creation of
these poorly made, badly conceived motion pictures – it is
infact promoting them. When I write about these films I honestly
can say I do not have any disrespect for the people making and starring
in them. The world would be a sadder place without them. They are
a phenomenon– I mean why do these films exist in this world
where people strive for perfection and quality? It’s unknown
they are a bastion of hope for those that aren’t perfect,
a reminder that the world is a varied and crazy place. I am glad
they exist and I am glad that there are so many talented people
making them (talented in having very little talent you see)
I hope you enjoy our website – I know I have enjoyed
watching many of these films in the creation of the site –
I hope you do too, some films have been painful and tormenting to
watch but read our reviews first and you can sort the bad from the
bad, you can even watch the worst of them to see if you have a resolve
as good as our own!
It would be fantastic to see these films hit the main stream
– I mean can you imagine having a title like ‘expect
no mercy’ one of the very funniest of these films on at the
same time at the cinema as a summer blockbuster for example? Maybe
one day…. ….and na summer blockbuster for example? Maybe
one day…. ….and not just in my rather deranged dreams…..

Key features of a shit film:
- Low budget & poor production values (stock footage always
a bonus, although some highbudget films that look low budget should
be allowed e.g. Batman and Robin),
- Clichéd storyline/plot & one liners (eg the usual
marshal arts film storyline – young rookie, revenge needed,
training with some old master, and then reaping revenge),
- Terrible acting/well known terrible actors/actresses,
- Unexpected ridiculous moments (known as ‘and then the
devil appeared’ moments),
- Unrealistic dialogue & use of incorrect grammar,
- The use of terrible props and the correct use of terrible mullets,
- It will always link to other bad films
- A good shit film must feature at least one “Classic Moment”,
a moment you can watch again and again and still find funny.
